Making the Case for Bicycle and Walking Beyond Urban Centers - Rails to Trails Conservancy
The Rails to Trails Conservancy (RTC) staff will research how important walking & bicycling are and can be in small town and rural America. The research will be coordinated with allied national cycling and walking organizations.
The research will support :(1) national policy and funding advocacy for U.S. Senators and Representatives and (2) local champions and statewide organizations working in rural areas and smaller cities and towns.
This research will build a framework for analyzing existing data and present active transportation stories to bring this data to life. RTC will then develop a tool to make the research usable by local champions. The tool will make the case for investments in infrastructure and policy change to increase rates of cycling and walking and reap associated benefits.
